60 Points on Their Licence – STILL Not Banned

A driver caught speeding 19 times is still not banned from the road.

Despite racking up an astonishing 60 penalty points on their driving licence, it has yet to be revoked.

That means the unnamed offender drives around perfectly legally, even after exceeding the statutory speed limit on a public road so many times.

Automatic vs Manual Cars: Which is Better?

Before choosing your next car, check out the pros and cons of manual and automatic to make the best decision.

A manual car has a gear system that you operate yourself by moving the gear stick and pressing down the clutch pedal. The majority of vehicles driven in the UK are manual.

An automatic car changes gears for you automatically in relation to the speed you’re travelling and doesn’t have a clutch pedal.

Reference

Automatic

Pros

  • Easier to drive: Convenience. They’re simple to operate as there’s no clutch to control.
  • Smoother ride

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Boring to drive

Manual

Pros

  • Greater control
  • Cheaper to maintain because they have a less complex design than automatics.

Cons

  • Leg ache
  • Not as safe

It’s your choice! If you’re passionate about driving, you’ll want to take full control, and the best way to do this is still with a manual gearbox and clutch.

Published by the British Standards Institute, the UK’s world leader in the development of self-driving vehicles has pioneered new cybersecurity standards documents.

Jesse Norman, Future of Mobility Minister, said:

“As vehicles get smarter, major opportunities for the future of mobility increase. But so too do the challenges posed by data theft and hacking.

This cybersecurity standard should help to improve the resilience and readiness of the industry, and help keep the UK at the forefront of advancing transport technology.”

Car manufacturers will be able to use the new standards published to demonstrate how the future of building self-driving cars will be

Merry Christmas, But Don’t Eat & Then Drive!

Why driving after eating too much could be as dangerous as drink driving

We recommend all drivers to take a break between eating and driving your vehicle this festive month! Research by Green Flag showed 87% of Brits set to experience effects of overeating whilst driving.

Don’t get the ‘festive food-lag’

Do you drive to your parent’s house after having your Christmas dinner? Well have a break, the after-effects of eating can be feeling sluggish, being unable to control falling asleep and having slower reactive times. We don’t want you to crash!

How to Not Be in the Christmas Spirit

It’s Christmas next week and people are in getting festive, and so are their cars.

Motorists who decorate their cars could be at risk of several road laws, and even an unlimited fine!

Some people really do get carried away, but you don’t want to get a road ban just before Christmas. A big concern is that they may fall off the car and into the path of another driver. Resulting in being charged for “driving without reasonable consideration for other road users”.

Bright lights can really confuse other motorists, particularly the colours they normally see on the road such as red, yellow and green.

Please think of others and yourself for that matter, and of course have a very Merry Christmas from everyone at Britannia Driving School.

Best wishes and safe driving, from Britannia!

When Should Seniors Stop Driving?

Most never talk to anyone about giving up their car!

According to a new study, most older drivers never talk about their ability to drive safely to their family or medical professionals.

We urge family members to have discussions with their older loved ones about how they feel whilst driving and how their eyesight is. Not only are they putting themselves in potential danger, but others around them too.

Speak to the team at Britannia Driving School for more help and guidance.

A Self-Driving Mobile Hotel Room

Image result for A self-driving mobile hotel room

“It’s basically a hotel room so it has everything inside it,” he says. “Whether it’s six hours or 10 hours, you’ll feel comfortable inside it.” – Steve Lee, Designer.

Lee has come up with an idea that could make the future of travel awesome, ‘The Autonomous Travel Suite’.

Is this far-fetched? Not at all, self-driving cars are already on the road and people are travelling. Lee predicts this vehicle will be on the road by 2030 picking up a traveller at home and taking them to their destinations for up to 10 hours.
