From 31 March 2026, learners will only be able to make two changes to their practical driving test booking.
Previously, learners could make up to six changes, but under the new system every learner will need to think carefully before moving their appointment. Changes include moving the date, time, test centre, or swapping a test with another learner.

From 12 May 2026, learners will need to book and manage their own driving tests.
Driving instructors can still offer advice and support, but they will no longer be able to book tests on behalf of their pupils. This means learners will need to take more responsibility for choosing their test appointment.
