Don’t Accept Sub-Standard Instructors

We know learning to drive isn’t always the easiest thing in the world to do. Not only is there the challenge of memorising all that information for your Theory Test, plus all the expense of driving lessons, as well as fitting at least one hour of lessons into your life each week. Of course, it can be tempting to cut corners.

One piece of advise we would offer is to never accept a sub-standard driving instructor. You may be lured by super-low prices by a friend or family member to teach you to drive – But always supplement these lessons with training from an official, fully approved driving instructor to get the best out of your lessons.

Obstacles In The Road

If you’re an experienced driver, you are likely familiar with the variety of challenges you can be presented with on a daily basis when behind the wheel – Poor weather conditions making roads unsafe, bad driving by other drivers, and even failures with your own vehicle causing you to break down.

One other issue that might crop up from time to time is the matter of obstacles in the road – Fallen trees and branches, litter and debris, or even pot-holes can make driving on those roads a particular hazard – So keep your eyes wide open for any such obstacles.

Don’t Rush Through Learning To Drive

Learning to drive can be a tedious process – After all, there’s no guarantee that you are certain to pass your driving test after ten, twenty, fifty, or a hundred lessons – Every driver is different, so sometimes you need to practice a little patience.

We would advise not to rush through your driving lessons – Take your time, make sure you feel fully confident behind the wheel before attempting your driving test. Not only will this improve your chances of success, it will also help to make you a much safer driver in the long run.

Offering To Drive For Others

When you’re in a group of fellow drivers – Whether it be your family, friends, or even work colleagues – Sometimes you find that you need to decide who is going to take the responsibility of driving, when it comes to going on holiday, going out for a night, or going to a work meeting.

So how to decide who takes this responsibility? You could always leave it to chance – Flip a coin, or draw straws – But why not make it more fair? Take it in turns to drive, or start a carpool going, and you will likely find a happier bunch of passengers in your car most days.

Storing Things In Your Car

You might often find that your car has more uses than just as a vehicle – After all, many of us spend a good proportion of our time in our cars every day, whether that’s on commuting, driving for a living or as a useful tool when moving house.

A lot of us might even use our cars as additional storage space – After all, all that boot space shouldn’t go to waste! We would just advise to avoid keeping any valuables out of your car overnight, as well as to keep an eye on the overall weight of your vehicle.

Don’t Scratch Your Car

Keeping on top of your car is an important habit to get into – Making sure you always have enough fuel and oil in your vehicle is vital to maintaining a healthy car at all times. But what about more cosmetic side of things, like looking after the bodywork?

One main way to keep your car looking as good as possible is to make sure to avoid scratching the body – Which is more easily done than most think, either by carrying your keys in your hand or pocket, or by general wear and tear when doing things such as moving house.
