Multi-Tasking Driving

Sometimes driving can be great – Especially when we’re enjoying the weather as much as we are this week, cruising around with the windows down and music playing, there’s really nothing quite like it!

However sometimes driving can get in the way of our busy schedules. At times like these, it is necessary to know how to safely multi-task when driving. The keyword here is “safely” – This means not using your phone for a call or for social media when behind the wheel, as well as making sure you maintain full control of the vehicle whilst multi-tasking, rather than putting yourself and others in danger by losing concentration.

Influence Your Children’s Driving

Amongst the various problems we may face when driving is that of driving with children . Whether it’s the daily school run, or going on a family holiday, as a parent you will likely spend a lot of time with your kids as passengers. But what you may not realise is that your driving habits will likely influence the way your sons and daughters driver in the future.

With this in mind, try to be a good role model behind the wheel – Always drive safely at all times, and try to avoid instances of road rage as well as other bad habits your children may pick up from you.

Good Vs Bad Instructors

There are a variety of factors that can influence how well or how fast you learn to drive. These might include the amount of hours you put in behind the wheel, whether you are having private lessons as well as lessons with a driving instructor, and your overall attitude to driving as a whole.

One major factor however is your driving instructor. Many would say that the qualities a good driving instructor needs are to be patient and calm, but also to trust you when you are driving. They should also always be punctual for your lessons and reliable, and should be honest with you at all times, to make sure you get the best out of their service.

Driving Test Stress Tips

Learning to drive can be a tough time for many young people and driving pupils. For some it is learning to face their fear of being behind the wheel, for others it may be the financial burden of struggling to afford to maintain regular driving lessons, as well as the additional cost of keeping a learner car on the road for private lessons, plus the cost of the test itself!

Never fear though, Britannia has a long history of dealing with driving pupils with stress, and we do our best to make sure the process of going from the first lesson to being a fully qualified driver is as smooth as can be.

Sit The Theory Earlier

Here at Britannia Driving School, we are asked tons of questions every day about learning to drive – Ranging from how many lessons a learner driver should take, to whether it is better to take the test in your instructor’s car or your own if you have one. The truth to be told, each learner driver is different, so it really depends on the individual to answer these questions as best as we can.

One such question we are asked is when the best time to sit the Theory Test might be – For this, we usually answer the same thing; As early as possible. We always feel that once a learner driver has got their theory test out the way, they get a boost of confidence and a surge of enthusiasm to go for their practical test,as well as removing one of the main obstacles you face when learning to drive.

Careless Drivers All Around

We’ve all seen our fair share of careless drivers when we’ve been out driving. Just this very morning on the way into work, I faced two separate incidents of drivers pulling out in front of my car without looking, forcing me to brake sharply – Not without sounding the horn loudly, I might add!

It seems that no matter where we look there are careless drivers, with poor motoring habits that not only forces others to react quickly and efficiently, but also puts themselves and other road users in considerable danger.

Have you faced any examples of careless driving lately? Let us know below!

Theory To Help You Become A Better Driver

When we’re taking our driving lessons, there is only one thing in our minds – To pass the practical driving test and to finally get onto the road. Anything that might slow us down or stop us from achieving this goal is considered an obstacle, be it the financial difficulty of affordable driving lessons or even, as some people see it, the formality of being required to sit the theory test.

However we would argue that the Theory test is actually an integral part to becoming a good driver. Attaining an extensive theoretical knowledge of driving is just as important to being a safe and conscientious driver, as much as getting the hours in behind the wheel.

Why Go For A Refresher Course

We all know the feeling – Out driving with friends or family members, and no matter how good your driving is, someone in the car always has to criticise your driving – Whether its poor parking, bad steering or something else they pick up on, there always seems to be something wrong with the way we drive.

However sometimes we might pick up on bad habits ourselves – If this is the case, then we think the Refresher Driving Course is for you. It’s not only for those who haven’t been behind a wheel in ages and have lost their touch, it’s also very useful for those who just want to brush up on their skills and be the best driver they can be.
