Boris Johnson made a promise back in 2008 to phase out the bendy buses and make bus travel attractive again.
Friday saw the new London bus officially revealed. The 87 seater, double-decker, with two staircases (allowing quicker entry and egress), three sets of doors and a hop on and off rear platform is set to transform London’s travel system.
The older generation, who will remember the Routemaster, say it’s a 21st century version and they are excited at the prospect of some of the new buses having a conductor like old times. The buses are set to be slowly introduced in February 2012.
