A European Parliament report has called for the EU to take action on road safety and one way to do this is to ensure drivers have regular eye tests.
They are looking to get all driver under the age of 65 to have their eyes tested every 10 years and those over 65 ever y 5 years.
Research has shown that more than a quarter of drivers ask passengers to read road signs to them as their eyesight is too poor. The research did show that the average motorist did have regular eye tests every three years which is good to know.
The government are always looking at ways to improve road safety and ensuring that motorists can see properly is surely a key factor.
