How Surroundings Help Improve Your Driving

As learner drivers, you are probably looking for any scrap of advice you can get your hands on to help you improve your driving skills to a test-passable standard. Some may recommend the best driving footwear, whilst others may suggest which test centres have the highest pass rates!

One tip we can give you is to use your surroundings to influence your driving. If you’re performing a manoeuvre especially, make note of any road markings, road signs, lamp posts, garden fences, or anything else that you can use to better judge your position in the road – We guarantee it will help!

Be Relaxed Behind The Wheel

When you’re driving, there’s a lot of things that can affect how well you perform. It might be bad weather conditions, you may feel under the weather, or maybe you have some sort of distractions inside the car that are causing you to lose concentration.

However one thing you don’t need to affect your driving performance is being tense. We here at Britannia know that the best drivers are those who feel relaxed behind the wheel – So whether it’s your first driving lesson, your practical test, or whether you’ve been driving all your life – Be relaxed behind the wheel!

Blizzard On It’s Way?

Like all January’s, this one is a particularly cold point in the year. Following on from a reasonably mild December and Christmas time, it is starting to look as though winter has hit us slightly later than expected, with snow and ice due for next week onwards.

If you’re due to be out and about driving in these conditions, please make sure to take the proper precautions – This includes setting out earlier than usual to allow more time for slower traffic and accidents, as well as driving slower and more carefully yourself to accommodate the icy conditions on the roads!

First Day Back At Work

Happy New Year to all, from all of us here at Britannia Driving School! We hope you’ve had a fantastic time and enjoyed yourselves as much as possible over the Christmas break – Unfortunately now it’s time to get back to school, college or work!

If you’ve been driving over the festive period, you may well have enjoyed a well-deserved break from the hectic traffic in the morning commute, however you will now need to get used to this once again! Remember to leave your house with more time in the morning to make it to your destination on time.

New Year’s Eve Celebrations

Welcome to the final Blog post from Britannia Driving School for 2016 – And what a year it’s been! Hopefully we have helped you to achieve your aims this year – If not, why not add those to your New Year’s Resolutions for 2017?

With tomorrow being New Year’s Eve, make sure to always drive safely (As we’re sure you do all year round!) If you’re out celebrating and you’re the designated driver, stay on the soft drinks throughout the night, and if you’re drinking then make sure not to get behind the wheel – And that goes for in the morning too!

Safe driving, and Happy New Year from Britannia Driving School!

Goodbye 2016 – Hello 2017!

As the year of 2016 draws to a close, it’s time to look back and reflect on what a year it has been. The year that gave us Brexit, Donald Trump as President, Harambe and a multitude of other noteworthy events – But what did 2016 mean to you? Perhaps you started taking your driving lessons with us this year, or even better, perhaps we helped you to pass your driving test?

Lets get those New Years Resolutions in place now – If you’re revising for your Theory Test, make it your aim to get this done in 2017. If you’re already on the roads, why not plan to improve your driving skills with a Pass Plus test this New Year?

Driving This Boxing Day

Happy Boxing Day from Britannia Driving School!

We hope you have all had a very merry Christmas, and are now looking forward to celebrating a spectacular New Year! Do take care if you are likely to be out driving today – Not only will traffic be busy due to many eager shoppers taking advantage of the Boxing Day sales, but also due to the cold winter weather the roads will likely be slippy and wet.

The Last Friday Before Christmas

It’s finally here, after the last several weeks (Or months in some cases!) of waiting, preparing, shopping, moaning and panicking – We have arrived at the last Friday before Christmas.

If you’re breaking up from work today, watch out for heavier traffic than usual. If you’re out celebrating your Christmas break tonight, make sure to leave the keys at home unless you’re the designated driver – And if you’re out driving over the weekend, make sure to drive safely.

Most importantly, have a very Merry Christmas everybody – From all of us here at Britannia!
