Are Men Still Better Drivers Than Women?

One of the great questions of our time – Are men better drivers than women?

We’re sure more than a few of you have your own opinions on this gender war, so we’ll try to stay neutral. Although the male gender claims they have always been superior behind the wheel, the fairer sex is likely to disagree – Indeed, some studies have shown that females often drive more safely than their male counterparts, many of whom they regard as having the “boy racer” attitude to being on the road.

But what do you think? Are men or women the better drivers? let us know below!

Reacting To Driving Danger

There are a wide range of skills that you will pick up when learning to drive, from the basics of steering the car to mastering clutch control, it really can be quite a learning curve.

Unfortunately one such skill is the ability to react to danger when in the car. This is necessary to prevent a road accident as many other drivers also make mistakes in their cars – Simply make sure you don’t panic when a situation arises and make the right decision as fast as you can to avoid danger.

Drive Safer With Passengers

There are a variety of different factors that affect how good or bad we drive – Ranging from feeling ill when behind the wheel, to how awake we feel when driving and more. One such aspect that may influence our behaviour behind the wheel, although we may not even realise it, is the presence of having passengers in the car with you.

As a teen driver, you are likely to want to pick up your friends and go for a drive as soon as you pass your test, however statistically driving with passengers at this age may make you more likely to result in a car accident, due to the combination of distractions and the relative lack of driving experience.

Leaving The Car When On Holiday

As car lovers, we all love our cars just as much as our family and friends (In some cases, more than that!). We may choose to give our car it’s much deserved TLC and may spend far more hours than we would like to admit carrying out maintenance on our vehicles!

As such, it may be difficult to leave your car when you go on Holiday. So always make sure your car is locked up in a secure driveway or preferably a garage if you are going to be away for a few days. If possible, leave it outside a friend’s house so that they can keep an eye on it, or ask a family member to pop round while you’re away to check on your pride and joy.

Physically Safe for Driving

There is a lot written on the topic of safe driving. From knowing the legal drink-drive limits to making sure to only drive when necessary in poor weather conditions, and to adjust your driving style accordingly for dangerous road conditions, you might think that you have heard all there is to hear about safe driving.

However what many drivers don’t realise is that often the driver is not physically safe to be driving at all, despite not drinking or taking illegal drugs. Circumstances such as being ill behind the wheel (and subsequently driving on medication) can render a driver unfit to be on the road, as can being overly tired, or even too dehydrated!

The Benefits To Becoming A Driving Instructor

Learning to drive can be a difficult period for many driving pupils. From the stress of being behind the wheel when you are not used to it, to the pressure that comes with booking and sitting the theory and driving tests, there are a variety of challenges presented to you during the process.

This is why it is important to have a good driving instructor at your side. Not only so that you learn as quickly and efficiently as possible, but also so that you feel comfortable with them during the learning curve. From the driving instructors point of view, this will likely be more than just a source of income, but will also be a career choice made on the satisfaction of helping young and new drivers to accomplish a major milestone in their lives.

The Best Driving Test Centre For Passing

There are a variety of factors that come into play when it comes to passing your driving test – It could be the eye test at the start, or some unexpected scenario later on that catches you out, which is why it is best to get a good amount of driving lessons under your belt before sitting the test to ensure you have as much experience as possible.

One factor a lot of pupils don’t consider is the driving test centre they choose to sit the test at. Many pupils op for the closest centre to them, so that they are more familiar with the local area – However others will opt for a test centre they are less familiar with, to avoid any false confidence, or bad habits picked up from driving around an area they are used to, to ensure that they are kept on the edge of their driving seat throughout the test.

Best Time for Driving Lessons

We all have different experiences when it comes to learning to drive. Some of us will love our driving lessons, enjoying the thrill of finally being in control of a car and the challenge of taking on the theory and practical tests, until eventually becoming a qualified driver in your own right – However some others may not enjoy the experience quite as much.

A tip we can give you as an experienced driving school is to choose the times to take your lessons carefully. Some pupils learn well with evening lessons, helping them to get into the routine of a driving lesson after college or work, whereas others find that weekend driving lessons are much more beneficial as they have more concentration when behind the wheel.

Dangers of Poor Road Conditions

There are a variety of hazards you may face when you’re out and about driving – From dangerous driving by other road users, meaning you have to be on your guard at all times when behind the wheel, to bad weather conditions such as rain, snow and wind causing you to alter your driving style accordingly to maintain safety on the roads.

One such hazard is that of poor conditions on the roads – Whilst this can be caused by wet or icy roads in winter, a threat that is constant all year round is that of pot holes – Not only can this cause substantial damage to your car, but it can also cause you to change direction or speed unexpectedly, leading you into a particularly dangerous situation, – So be on your guard at all times.
